Just like older people, older cats are more fragile, so need to be looked after a bit more carefully. Any cat over 15 years or so can be considered to be old, although cats can live 20 years or more given luck and care. Visits to the vet may well increase as the cat gets older as its immunity goes down and it is more likely to get involved in accidents. Although veterinary medicine is making advances all the time in dealing with older animals, there inevitably comes a point where the kindest thing to do is to put kitty down so she will suffer no more.
