Older Cats
Just like older people, older cats are more fragile, so need to be looked after a bit more carefully. Any cat over 15 years or so can be considered to be old, although cats can live 20 years or more given luck and care. Visits to the vet may well increase as the cat gets older as its immunity goes down and it is more likely to get involved in accidents. Although veterinary medicine is making advances all the time in dealing with older animals, there inevitably comes a point where the kindest thing to do is to put kitty down so she will suffer no more. It’s a very hard decision to make and the sense of loss is just as great as when a family member dies. When my cat was run over he was buried in the garden, where he liked to play. If this is not possible, there are pet cemeteries which provide a suitable resting place for your feline friend.
